The muddler type patterns have long been recognised as trout catchers. The incorporation into my Mayfly patterns has been phenomenal, especially when fished on the top dropper. This pattern comes into its own fished in a big wave. The fish taking it as a freshly hatching dun quite often as it breaks through the top of the water.
