The Blowtorch is one of my absolute favorite patterns and I always try it on new rivers. The bulk of the time it works excellently. To add a lighter colored variation to the Blowtorch, I tried a hare’s ear version several years ago. It has become a great pattern during the warmer months and whenever caddis pupae are around. It has also convinced many of the pickiest tailwater trout around to give it a try when more traditional patterns have gone lacking.
