Perch fry are a key food source in almost every water and a favourite of resident, “grown-on” fish. The Booby Perch is the perfect close imitation, ideal around weed beds or structure when targeting wary trophy fish on sinking lines. Fish it singly on a 7–12ft leader with a medium-fast figure-of-eight retrieve, pausing every few seconds to let the fly rise. It’s already accounted for several double-figure browns and is deadly on pressured fish.
