Martyn White grew up fly fishing for trout, pike, and grayling in the west of Scotland, developing a lasting appreciation for simple, functional flies that do exactly what they’re meant to do. Nearly forty years on, he has lived and fished in several countries, splitting his time between warm-water species such as carp, black bass, and snakehead, and saltwater fishing for species including Tokyo Bay seabass, mahi, tuna, trevally, bonefish, and triggerfish across southern Japan, the South Pacific, and the Indian Ocean. His fly design philosophy remains unchanged: function always comes first.
