Steven Shorrock is a passionate fly tyer and angler based in Cheshire. After many years of coarse fishing, he made the switch to fly fishing and tying — and hasn’t looked back since. Introduced to the art of fly tying by his grandfather nearly 35 years ago, Steven has come full circle, now fully immersed in the craft with a particular love for tying tactical nymphs and dry flies.
Having learned from some of the best fly tyers in the world, Steven has developed a precise and distinctive style. He’s a regular on the Tyers Row at the British Fly Fair International (BFFI) and the Irish Fly Fair (IFF), as well as a frequent demonstrator at leading fly shops and clubs across the UK.
Most of Steven’s fishing takes place in Staffordshire and Derbyshire, where he spends trout season on rivers such as the Wye, Derwent, Dove, and Lathkill in pursuit of wild browns and rainbows. In winter, he focuses on Welsh rivers like the Dee, Wye, and Severn for grayling, and travels to Bosnia’s Ribnik and Pliva each year to target their legendary fish.
