Stephan Dombaj is a photographer, globetrotter, and self-made man who has turned his passion for fly fishing into a thriving profession. Ever since he first picked up a fly rod, Stephan dreamed of exploring the world in pursuit of powerful, iconic fish — a dream he’s now living to the fullest. Whether it’s a salmon in Russia, a giant sea trout in Argentina, or a leaping tarpon in the Caribbean, Stephan captures each adventure with his ever-present camera, preserving priceless memories from across the globe.
His travels span an incredible range of destinations — from New Caledonia, New Zealand, and Korea, to Venezuela, Cuba, Iceland, Canada, and beyond. Stephan has earned a reputation as one of Central Europe’s most respected and knowledgeable fly-fishing ambassadors. With six seasons of guiding experience at the renowned Las Buitreras Lodge in Southern Patagonia — including a term as the youngest lodge manager in Río Gallegos history — his practical knowledge and scouting expertise make him an invaluable member of the international fly-fishing community.
In 2006, Stephan founded The Fly Fishing Nation, a pioneering media network that brought a fresh, modern voice to the sport. Through its growth and evolution, he has united a generation of passionate fly-fishers dedicated to sharing their craft through stunning visuals and inspiring storytelling.
