Rudolf Wiestermayer

Rudolf (Rudi) Wiestermayer lives in Surwold in the Emsland region of north-west Germany. He came to fishing in his school years and discovered fly tying during a course in 2008 — a moment that sparked a passion he has pursued with dedication ever since.

Rudi's tying quickly outgrew the tying bench. In autumn 2021 he presented his own flies at the EWF in Fürstenfeldbruck, returning each year through to 2026. He has also demonstrated at Bendingfeathers in Fürstenfeldbruck, and taken his work to international shows including Putte (Belgium), the Netherlands, the Irish Fly Fair, and the BFFI — a circuit that reflects both his skill and the regard in which fellow tyers hold him.

For Rudi, fly tying is not a complement to fishing — it is a craft in its own right, one that rewards curiosity, patience, and a willingness to keep learning.
