My name is Marco Naldi, and I was born and live in the province of Bologna. Fishing has always been a part of my life since childhood, but for fifteen years now I have been practicing fly fishing exclusively.
For some time I have been devoting most of my free evenings to fly tying. I like to build a little bit of everything, dry, submerged flies and nymphs and my favorite mount is the buttonhole mount, inspired by the great builders before me who invented and tested this method of construction.
I love to fish dry fly and nymph and especially prefer sight fishing in chalk streams.
I pursue this passion of mine as a way to escape daily stress, I practice catch and release and no longer seek quantity but quality in my catches. Being able to fool a trout with one of my flies gives me an incredible feeling.
In 2020 I participated in several contests of the magazine " Fly Fishing and Spinning ", winning two first places and other podium finishes. Magazine for which I write articles on fishing or fly tying. In 2021 I took first place at the Grayling Trophy construction competition held in Austria and in 2023 also achieved fourth place at the Slovenian Open Fly Tying Championship.
I am a member of the GVS Realistic Fly Tying System Pro Team and a Fulling Mill ambassador. I own and manage two social channels, Facebook and Instagram, where I share all my activities.
In the winter period, taking advantage of the closure of river fishing, I devote myself to Rod-making my other great passion, which is the construction of bamboo rods with which I love to spend pleasant fishing moments.
I have fished in many waters in northern and central Italy. My river par excellence is the Brenta where I have been a member of the basin for many years, I know it like the back of my hand. I frequent many Italian resurgences and often go beyond our borders. Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland and Lapland are among my favorites. For some time fly fishing has also become my job in fact I am employed at The Fly Store, a fly fishing store in Bologna. I am part of the group of Italian guides " Italian Fishing Guide" which allows me to transmit my knowledge and technical background putting them at the disposal of the people who will be with me on the river.
Finally, I am a first level instructor of the Italian casting school "Claudio Carrara Fly Fishing School"
