Trout & Grayling
Speciality: All-rounder • Italy
Marco Naldi was born and lives in the province of Bologna, Italy. Fishing has been a part of his life since childhood, but for the past fifteen years he has dedicated himself exclusively to fly fishing.
Many of his evenings are spent at the tying bench, crafting dry flies, wets, and nymphs. His favourite technique is the buttonhole mount, inspired by the great tiers who first developed and refined the method.
Marco particularly enjoys fishing with dry flies and nymphs, especially sight-fishing in chalk streams. For him, fly fishing is a way to escape daily stress — a mindful pursuit focused on quality over quantity.
Fooling a trout with one of his own creations remains one of his greatest joys.
Marco’s talent has earned him recognition in international fly-tying competitions. He won two first places and several podiums in Fly Fishing and Spinning magazine contests (2020), took first place at the Grayling Trophy in Austria (2021), and achieved fourth place at the Slovenian Open Fly Tying Championship (2023).
He also writes regularly for Fly Fishing and Spinning on topics of tying and technique.
Marco is a proud member of the GVS Realistic Fly Tying System Pro Team and serves as a Fulling Mill ambassador.
He manages active Facebook and Instagram channels where he shares his tying, fishing, and rod-building work.
During the winter season, he pursues his second passion — bamboo rod-making — crafting his own rods to enjoy on the water once spring returns.
He has fished extensively across northern and central Italy, with the River Brenta being his home water, as well as in Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Poland, and Lapland.
Today, Marco works at The Fly Store in Bologna and is part of the Italian Fishing Guide group, sharing his skills and experience with anglers on the river.
He is also a Level 1 instructor with the Claudio Carrara Fly Fishing School.
We are delighted to welcome Marco to the Fulling Mill Pro Team.
