Lana Richardson
Salmon Pro
Speciality: Spate River & Hill Loch Fanatic
Growing up next to a north highland spate river, learning how to fly fish was as natural as learning how to ride a bike for Lana. From age 4 she was independently catching trout in small streams and hill lochs and from around 5, fishing for Atlantic salmon began. After catching her first salmon at age 6 on a stoats tail, her love of fly fishing was truly ignited.
Lana primarily fishes in the highlands of Scotland for Atlantic salmon, brown trout and sea trout, although if it can be caught with a fly she will give any species and technique a go. Other than Scotland, she occasionally ventures to places further afield, so far she has fished in Denmark, Mexico & Canada, although Argentina, Mongolia & Greenland are high up on her fishing bucket list.
Lana lives in the Scottish highlands and works in the habitat conservation & land management sector, she is fortunate to have fisheries conservation and management as part of her day-to-day job. Alongside her main career, she also enjoys guiding and teaching beginners how to fish. Any time she isn't at work she is almost always found casting a line somewhere.
As well as writing occasionally for magazines and her own blog, Lana is part of Spate Fly Fishing, a group of four fishing-mad individuals who document their time on the water through alternative short films and photography.
