Fly Fisher & APGAI InstructorCounty Kilkenny, Ireland • Casting Demonstrator & Fisheries Manager Dan O Neill came to fly fishing at the age of eight — a Jack Russell terrier for company, a makeshift fly rod in hand, and the wild brown trout of the Gowran River in County Kilkenny as his quarry. It was an unconventional apprenticeship, but the foundation it laid has proved entirely solid. From the Gowran he progressed to the River Barrow, and in time to the role of Fisheries Manager at the Mount Juliet Estate, where he now oversees 2.5 miles of the River Nore. The Nore is dry fly water of real quality — the kind where tippet choice and floatant application are not afterthoughts but decisions that determine everything — and Dan brings to it both a manager’s intimate knowledge of the river and an angler’s eye for a rising fish. As an APGAI Ireland casting instructor, Dan travels widely across Europe, demonstrating at fly fishing shows, helping beginners tie their first fly, and introducing children to the sport. Back on the Nore, he guides anglers of every level — from first-timers to seasoned visitors from across the globe — sharing water that, on the right day, can be very special indeed. Dan fishes the Fulling Mill range throughout, drawn to the quality and to the straightforward fact that the products are designed by anglers, for anglers. We are delighted to welcome Dan to the Fulling Mill Pro Team. Connect with Dan:
