Fly Fisher & Fly Tyer
Gothenburg, Sweden • Wild Brown Trout & Dry Fly Specialist
Carl Olofsson lives with his wife and two children on the outskirts of Gothenburg, Sweden — a short walk from a river holding the wild brown trout he has spent the last fifteen years pursuing. He came to fishing as a young boy, rod in hand from the age of nine, down by the water every day after school whether friends came along or not.
These days Carl's focus is singular: wild browns in rivers and creeks. Small, intimate streams with unpressured fish are where he is most at home, and drifting dry flies is his method of choice. When the bugs are in the air, the dry fly goes on — and come a late evening caddis hatch, there is nowhere else he would rather be. He fishes nymphs through the early season when conditions demand it, but the moment the surface comes alive, so does Carl.
Six years ago Carl started tying his own flies, and the vice has become as important to him as the river itself. Through the long, dark Swedish winters — when the water feels a long way off — tying keeps the connection alive. As Carl puts it: he almost enjoys it as much as fishing them. Almost.
We are delighted to welcome Carl to the Fulling Mill Pro Team.
