Tim Wellman has been a regular at Chew Valley Lake since the age of 6 and fishes for Bristol based Team Cortland.
- Throughout March and April large shoals of newly stocked fish can be found throughout the lake. These fish typically respond well to pulling tactics where blobs and boobies catch the majority of the fish.
- Early summer the trout have naturalised their focus is primarily on the abundance of aquatic insect life Chew and other shallow reservoirs are famous for. Drab nymphs with subtle trigger points are the way to go fished very slowly as a team on a floater or tip line
- As the season draws to a close, this is an ideal time to target the resident Browns and Rainbows as they gorge on fry to pack on weight for the leaner winter months. Fishing around the jetties and fish cages can be spectacular. These larger pattern can be fished on a floater to a Di 7 for a chance of a specimen trout, perch or pike!
